I have a problem of getting hair spray on my bathroom walls, doors and everywhere else! I wish I could blame this on someone else, but I know its me who is the problem!! The other day I figured there had to be something that would take it off. I did a google search and found that shaving cream would take it off. I read of a few other things, but shaving cream was the one thing I already had on hand and could try. Well, I found out that it works!!!! It was great! I also read that it could take paint off my walls when using it, but I didn't find that as problem. So put a generous amount on a rag and clean away! Does anyone know of any other cleaning secrets?

I've found that hot water with vinegar in a bucket, along with some elbow grease does the trick.
ReplyDeleteI have to try the shaving cream. I too am sick of the hairspray every where.
ReplyDeletecould have used this tip in the late 80's and 90's when the hairspray was caked above my vanity in my bedroom with the sloped ceiling. needless to say, the paint was falling off because of all the hairspray! lol!
ReplyDeleteMost people might already know this but to get my microwave clean I put about a cup of water in and get it boiling for about a minute then I stop the microwave but keep the door shut for about five minutes to let the steam do all the work. Then I wipe it down with a damp rag and everything comes off no problem. My husband doesn't cover anything before microwaving it so I have to do this a lot but it saves me so much time.
ReplyDeleteMy family has always used butter and margarine to remove the sticky residue left by stickers/labels etc. Simple spread the margarine to cover the left over sticky stuff, let it sit for a while (be patient) and wipe off. No chemicals and works great.
ReplyDeleteI love this topic! I can't wait to see old family tricks.

Use Shaving GEL and windex to get nail polish out of your carpet. No joke!! My daughter spilled bright pink all over my white carpet and it all came out!!! Just spray the gel on and spread it over the area, then spray the windex on top. Leave it for a while, then wipe with a damp cloth. It only took two treatments to get it all out!!
ReplyDeleteYou can use hairspray to remove the sticky residue left behind from stickers.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this. I have hairspray all over my tile. Now its turning black but I can't get it off.
ReplyDeleteShout stain remover works GREAT for hard water stains on glass shower doors and stainless steel. Smells better than most cleaners too.
