Amy from, Nap Time Crafters is here to show us two great tutorials! Perfect for football season and could also work great for a Halloween Costume!
And you know she'll just love it:)
Materials:
- T-shirt
- Double sided fusible web (optional)
Team Fabric (I used a 42 x 9" piece. Little miss has a 19" waist, so use a little more than double your girly's waist measurement and then pick whatever length you want)
1. Pleat your fabric pinning as you go. I didn't bother measuring the pleats and it turned out just fine.
2. Using a basting stitch, stitch all of your pleats into place
3. Pin your skirt right sides together and sew up the side seam- I only had one, but if you are making this in a bigger size you might have seams on each side instead of just the one in the back. Anyway make sure your pattern matches up (I may have goofed this up the first time around...)
4. Hem the bottom end by folding over twice and topstitching.
5. Ok- I accidently deleted a few pictures and then it was all put together and on little miss, so this will have to do. Sorry about the belly button:) Slip your skirt over a t-shirt (I trimmed a bit off the bottom), so that they are right sides together and then stitch down.
6. This part is totally optional. I cut a little logo out of the fabric and then ironed it down with my double-sided fusible web. I didn't even stitch it down since this outfit probably won't be worn super often. I think it adds a nice little touch without too much more work:
Here's what you'll need:
- Grosgrain ribbon- I just used 1 color, but you could definitely do a couple different colors
- Hair Clip
- Hot glue gun
- Knitting needles or something else similar in size that can go in your oven (wood dowels work well)
- Bobby pins or clothes pins
- Cookie sheet
- Oven:)
- Clear nail polish or a lighter
- Embellishments (optional- I didn't bother)
*Remember anything you use needs to be oven safe and when you get it out it will be hot, so be careful!
1. Wrap your ribbon around the knitting needle and secure each end with a bobby pin. For my bow I used only 2 needles, but you could do more for a fuller bow. Bake at 250 for 20 minutes. Cool
2. After everything has cooled down, slide your ribbon off the knitting needles and cut into chunks. Mine were about 2" but you can make yours bigger or shorter depending on the bow shape you're going for. Seal the ends with clear nail polish or a lighter to prevent fraying.

What a GREAT tutorial. I have SO been wondering how people make the korker bows!!! This is great to know!
ReplyDeleteI had also been wondering how people curled the ribbon! I'm so excited to make a korker bow now! Thank you for the tutorial!
