Organizing Your Scrapbook Scraps

I really like to keep my scraps of paper if there is enough left to do something with it (card or gift tag). I used to keep the scraps in a shoe box, but they would always get bent and didn't fit the best. I found these containers at Michaels and love them! They are 12X12 so my papers never get bent. I have one for solid papers and one for pattern papers. They make it nice to see what scraps I have. Love organizing!

  2. You know what I love... my stampin' up friend showed me this and I think it's genius... you use a binder and clear page protectors, the kind you slide paper into, in each sleeve you put a different color paper, that way all your solid colors are separated, it makes finding them that much easier! Then you just have to flip through the binder!

  3. I do something similar - like the idea of separating solids and patterns though!

  4. I put all mine in an accordian file...well actually large scraps I cut them so there are no hanging edges, then put them right back into my paper stash...I have them organized by size(12x12, 8.5x11, 6x12...since I have the small cricut this is perfect for me, 6x6, then mat stacks) then these piles are organized by color and then pattern...anything smaller is put into my accordian file...every so often I decide to purge this but since I can't make myself throw it away, I force myself to use it to make cards...check out my most recent blogpost to see some cards I made with only scraps

  5. Great minds think alike! I do the exact same thing!! I even have those containers! I found mine on sale a few years ago at the Container store. Totally worth it! BTW I love your blog!

  6. Thanks for the idea! I have mine all together in one place. This is so much more organized and I LOVE that!

  7. My method is very similar, and I too, love having them organized. I have a 7 drawer cart with these same type of pull out containers, and I've labeled/sorted by color, with patterned in its own separate container.
    Thanks for sharing!

  8. I'm a terrible hoarder - so of course I keep my scraps - all in one bin but separated between solids and patterns - and then there are the baggies full of all the small squares (cut from the papers I occasionally "purge" that I've donated to the little girls when they are using the die cuts or punches.
