Christmas Planner

To get organized with all that I need to do this Christmas Season, I made this Christmas planner to help me keep everything in one place.

I took this notebook that I had bought for 10 cents during the back-to-school sales

and added some scrapbook supplies to make this.

And my favorite part is the envelop that I glued inside to keep all of my Christmas shopping receipts.

Easy, Simple and Useful. Just the way I like it!

Blog Swap with Crystal's Craft Spot

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to blog swap with Sister's stuff today. They have so many cute ideas that I can't wait to try.

I am Crystal from Crystal's Craft Spot. Its my little spot to share my current craft projects, tutorials, recipes, and ideas I want to use in the future. I started my blog a few months ago because I didn't want to overload our family blog with my new creations. I try to post something new almost everyday and I enjoy a variety of crafts. It is my way to relax and take a break from a busy day. Here's a little more about me:

• I've been married for over 5 years to the greatest guy ever.
• I am a stay at home mom of two adorable little girls (4 and 1). They keep me very busy. When they are awake we spend our time playing, learning, making messes, and occasionally cleaning.
• I teach my daughter preschool at home and we post our fun activities and crafts on our family blog along with our daily happenings. (The Harris family-this is the name that shows up when I leave comments). Feel free to check it out-the labels on the side will help you quickly find our activities.
• I love to read-mostly fiction and yes I love Twilight
• I don't watch much TV except for LOST-I am addicted. I do love movies!

Fun and stylish jewelry which any girl would love! I have one of their bracelets and love it! It has big funky beads and it's so cute! I always get tons of comments when I wear it! These would make great socking stuffers!

Christmas Countdown

This is one of my Favorite Christmas Traditions that we do in our family.

Starting December 1st, we do something fun each day up until Christmas. The kids get to find the note for the day in our little Countdown to Christmas house. It tells us what to do that day.
We tell the kids that the elves deliver notes and surprises while they are checking on their behavior and reporting back to Santa.

On December 1st, the fun begins with this basket full of gifts that go with different activities during the month. Each gift is marked with the corresponding day. The kids get to open that gift after reading the note for the day. (not every day has a gift)

It is a lot of work getting it all planned out and ready, but so much fun!

One of my friends wanted my Christmas countdown ideas. So, here they are:

For example, we usually do the movie nights on the weekends and allow the kids to stay up later than usual.

Harvest Pumpkin Bars

We have just enjoyed a delicious batch of these Harvest Pumpkin Bars.
I am not a huge pumpkin fan. In fact, there are just a few pumpkin recipes that I like.
But these are so Yummy!
I think it is the cream cheese frosting that makes them!

Harvest Pumpkin Bars

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
2 cups pumpkin (16 oz)
3/4 cup oil
4 eggs

Mix dry ingredients together; add pumpkin, oil and eggs. Mix until smooth. Pour into greased 15x10x1 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Frosting:
6 oz cream cheese
12 Tbsp. butter (melted)
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups pd. sugar

Spread frosting on cool bars.
Optional-top with walnuts.

Grateful Mini-Album Tutorial

We are sad to see that we got sent home from SYTYC.
It was fun while it lasted.
Here is the tutorial for the Grateful mini-album.

I took 4 regular brown paper bags and cut off the top so that they measured 6 1/2 inches.

Then I rounded the corners and punched holes the the paper bags for the metal rings I put in later. *I was only going to to 2 rings, but later changed my mind and added the 3rd hole.Then I glued the bottom of two paper bags together, and glued another set together and had one more bag that I decided not to use.

I then cover the bags with patterned paper and card stock.
I wanted one of the ends to be a small page and the other to be a pocket. The pocket page I glued on three sides (top,bottom and inside) to form a little pocket.
